MARK FERBER, the quartet's drummer, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He began his musical studies on the piano at the age of five and was later introduced to drumming and percussion. He has maintained a very busy playing schedule in Europe and on both the west and east coast. Currently, Mark resides in Brooklyn, New York.
Saxophonist CHUCK MANNING, who has just released his first solo album titled "Notes from the Real," has been well-known in the Los Angeles jazz community for years. LA Weekly highly praises the artist, "No matter what the context, tenor Manning's mix of smarts and heart will get to you — he always seems to work out just the right solo for the moment."
Born and raised in Poland, bassist DAREK "OLES" OLESZKIEWICZ has studied all kinds of music and instruments starting at an early age, ranging from the piano to playing rock. After touring the world playing jazz, Oles, his American nickname, moved to Los Angeles to "broaden his musical horizon." Since coming to the west coast, Oles has had an equally successful jazz career, becoming one of the most sought-after bass players.
Born into a musical family, guitarist LARRY KOONSE has been playing the guitar since he was seven years old. Larry has traveled all over the world to share his musical talent and played at well-known concert halls such as the Carnegie Hall, the Academy of Music, Disney Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. Larry has been a faculty member at the California Institute of the Arts since 1990.
"There are few bigger-name jazz artists making music as complete as LAJQ's and there’s nobody more involving" - L.A. WEEKLY
The performance's program will be presented at a later time.
