Yo-Yo Ma Experiences Soka Performing Arts Center

Aliso Viejo, CA -- Cellist Yo-Yo Ma performed to a sold-out house at Soka Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in a concert presented by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County – and it was a musical match made by acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota, who designed the acoustics for the 1000-seat concert hall. When Yo-Yo Ma came in to the post-concert reception, he saw Toyota standing quietly off to the side. He rushed over and embraced him warmly, saying “This is an absolutely wonderful hall!" Yo-Yo Ma added with a smile, "I wish I could play in nothing but Yasu Toyota halls." Soka University’s president Daniel Habuki, PhD was on hand to introduce Yo-Yo Ma and to express his delight in welcoming the accomplished musician to Soka Performing Arts Center’s second season.
